CITE in review for 2011. Hereunder were the highlights of the year that was:
January 22 – Young Mentors Organization held its mentoring seminar for the new members. The seminar was conducted by CITE parent Mrs. Editha Erana.
January 24 - CITE copped second place in the Cisco Regional Networking Skills Competition held among universities at the University of Cebu.
January 25 - Some 26 school principals, teachers, and officers of Parents-Teachers Associations attended the orientation on the Industrial Technician Program (ITP) and the Dual Training System (DTS) conducted in line with this year’s ITP campaign.
February 1 - Some 38 barangay officials from Cebu and Mandaue Cities attended the Orientation on the Industrial Technician Program (ITP) and the Dual Training System conducted by CITE in line with its ITP campaign.
February 2 – Entrepreneurship guru Dr. Jose Navarro of University of Asia and the Pacific facilitated the curriculum seminar for Entrepreneurship program of CITE.
February 3 - Project Manager Thomas Corolleur of Passerelles Numeriques, a French organization, visited CITE to forge partnerships particularly on scholarships.
February 11 - CITE students took a stand against signing of Reproductive Health Bill into law during the Cebu rally headed by Human Life International.
February 19 - The 2nd CITE Alumni Homecoming drew 116 alumni from different batches to celebrate CITE’s 21st Foundation Day Anniversary on February 14.
February 19 – Young Mentors Organization held its Graduation Rites for 28 kids in Purok 5, San Jose who completed four Saturdays of mentoring sessions.
February 28 - Top executives from Elburg Ship Management Phils, Inc. visited CITE on February 28 for a possible training linkage.
March 11 - The bloodletting activity spearheaded by the Department of Health (DOH) drew 50 student volunteers and 3 faculty members to donate their blood in response to DOH’s rallying call for voluntary blood donations.
March 23 – CITE received its ISO 9001:2008 certification after passing the November audit conducted by Technischer Uberwachungsverein (TUV-SUD), an independent certifying body in Germany.
April 5 - Some 490 applicants of the Industrial Technician Program were slated to take the five-day Summer Technician Orientation Program (STOP). The first batch ran between April 5 and 11. The second batch ran from April 12 to 18 and third batch from April 26 to May 2.
April 27 - CITE hosted a night of fun and music during the Teachers’ Night in line with Barangay San Jose’s annual fiesta celebration.
May 5 & 6 – A research seminar participated in by the management staff and department heads was conducted to draft the 5-year research program with the theme Setting the Trend in Technical Education. The seminar was conducted by Dr. Elizabeth Remedio, Director of USC-CHED Zonal Research Centre.
May 11 – CITE’s website, cite.edu.ph registered the highest web hits since 1997 with 1580 hits in a day during the announcement of ITP (Industrial Technician Program) results.
May 31– June 1—CITE staff went whitewater rafting and zipline adventures in Cagayan de Oro and Bukidnon for their annual excursion.
June 6 - His Excellency Cebu Archbishop Jose Palma visited CITE. He addressed the staff and students during a small get-together after a campus tour.
June 8 - Cebu Energy Development Corporation managers visited CITE for possible tie-ups.
June 9-10 – Two-day retooling seminar for CITE mentors was held.
June 10 - Mr. Jose Ben Laraya, a perpetual scholarship grantor, visited CITE.
June 11 - Some 36 scholarship grantors were honored for their contribution to the scholarship program during the Scholars’ Day. It also welcomed 1119 scholars who were presented to the Board. Dr. Gilbert Magallon of St. Peter Academy of Alegria Foundation Inc. was keynote speaker.
June 11 – Some 262 graduates marched to the stage during the 18th Commencement Exercises. This year yielded 85 parents who received perfect attendance awards, 22 graduates with perfect attendance, 44 graduates with exemplary behavior, 15 graduates with certificate of merit during their DTS semesters, and 5 best in technology awardees. Alumnus Jaine Alterado delivered a message on behalf of the alumni.
June 17 – Convocation program to welcome the first year students was held.
June 22 – First year officers underwent a two-day Leadership Seminar in Busay.
June 25 - ISO consultant Engr. Luther Bersales prepared the process owners for documentation to seek the ISO compliance for education standards.
June 25 –CITE Family commemorated the feast day of St. Josemaria Escriva, founder of Opus Dei, during a concelebrated mass at Cebu Metropolitan Cathedral.
June 29 - CITE invited 36 industry partners to attend the orientation on the Dual Training System and training plan making.
July 1 – ISO Consultant Luther Bersales oriented the staff on the Business Process Model for education systems and gave an overview on making an educational control plan.
July 2 - New batch of Young Mentors Organization received basic training in reading and storytelling.
July 2 - Members of CITE Dramatics Abstraction attended the second Basic Integrated Theater Arts Workshop conducted by CITE alum and UC thespian Phillip Ogang.
July 9 - Leadership seminar was held for the second year class officers.
July 16 - The first parenting seminar drew in 635 parents and guardians to CITE hitting 78% in overall attendance.
July 16 – Some 19 Mechanical Technology students passed the Machining NC II Assessment conducted by TESDA.
July 16 – Xyberguild club conducted computer literacy training for barangay councilors in Cabancalan.
July 17 – Leadership seminar was conducted for third year class officers.
July 30 - Trustees met to discuss new developments for CITE during the annual board meeting.
July 30 - Acolytes and new recruits underwent a seminar for the oratory crew.
August 5 – CITE hosted the Stand Up for Life Symposium conducted by Atty Jo Imbong and Dr. Rene Bullecer as its opposition to the RH bill.
August 20 – CITE’s Continuing Education Program debuted during the alumni get-together at TLC.
August 20 – Xybeguild launched a domino of computer training which benefited about 120 high school students. Sessions on web design and programming were conducted in Abuno National High School, Mandaue City Comprehensive High School, Abellana National School, Talamban National High School, Consolacion National High School, and San Isidro Parish School. The campus tour culminated on September 24.
August 25-26 - Olympiad 2011 kicked off with five teams pitting against one another in the quest for the much-coveted overall championship.
August 28 - CITE Chaplain Fr. Roy Cimagala was hailed best in column writing for the third time by the 1 Cebu Archdiocesan Mass Media Awards (CAMMA).
September 3 - IT team composed of Chris Wayne Comendador, Rameses Talisaysay, Kevin Maglinte, and Mark Troy Alonsagay qualified for the finals of the University Quiz.
September 3, 10, 17 - CITE Palette extended its reach to the community by holding free art lessons in Canduman National High School, San Roque Child Development School, and Lilo-an National High School.
September 11 - In response to the rallying call to aid out-of-school youth, some 32 scholars of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD-Lapu-lapu City) joined the annual Alay Lakad headed by the Lapu-lapu City government.
September 16 - Trainors Technician Program Club was launched.
September 17 - Cluster heads met for a curriculum workshop facilitated by the Committee on Academic Standards.
September 18—CITE launched a redesigned website, cite.edu.ph, which now offers a quicker and easier way to find information.
September 26-28 - The first and second batch of ship electricians for Elburg Ship Management Philippines, Inc. underwent a training in Instrumentation and Process Control on September 26-28 and October 17-21.
October 18 - Launching of feeding program of Century Pacific Group (RSPo) Foundation and CITE dubbed as Heroes Among Us: A Community and Nutrition Project. The orientation was attended by seven elementary schools.
October 26 - CITE honored 45 of its industry partners a simple DTS Recognition Rites.
October 26 - The Rotary Club of Cebu-East (RCCE) signed into a Memorandum of Agreement with CITE to sponsor students of Industrial Technician Program and Industry Skills Training Program through perpetual scholarships.
October 27 – Some 30 of CITE’s industry partners representatives met with the cluster and academic heads during the Annual Curriculum Review at CITE Alumni Center to gather ideas from the industry partners to improve the content of the Industrial Technician Program (ITP).
November 8 – Feeding program in Cabancalan 1 Elementary School for 200 kids.
November 9 - Feeding program in San Jose Elementary School for 420 kids.
November 10 - Feeding program in Cabancalan 2 Elementary School for 200 kids.
November 14 – Feeding program in San Jose Day Care for 200 kids.
November 15 – Feeding program in Budlaan Integrated School for 200 kids.
November 15-17 – CITE Dramatics Abstraction staged Paul Dumol’s “Paglilitis ni Mang Serapio”.
November 17 – Feeding program in Talamban Elementary School for 500 kids.
November 18 – Feeding program in Cubacub Elementary School for 160 kids.
November 22 - Feeding program in Banilad Elementary School for 350 kids.
November 23- Feeding program in Canduman Elementary School for 120 kids.
November 25 - Some 150 first year students were treated to a rare musicale experience entitled "Ang Guro" at SM Cinema.
December 9 - Feeding program conducted in Leonard Wood Elementary School for 100 kids.
December 10 - Family Day for students and their families held.
December 12 - Feeding program in Pajac Elementary School for 123 kids.
December 12-13 – Project Management Seminar Workshop conducted for 11 members of the faculty. Kahlil Corazo of the University of Asia and the Pacific conducted the training.
December 13 - Feeding program conducted in Marigondon Elementary School for 391 kids.
December 14 – Feeding program conducted in Canjulao Elementary School ofr 210 kids.
December 14-15 – Team leaders assembled for the preparation of getting accredited by Asia Pacific Accreditation and Certification Commission (APACC). Engr Luther Bersales headed the workshop.
December 15 – Feeding program conducted in Babag II Elementary School for 210 kids.
December 16 – Feeding program conducted in Bagong Silang Elementary School for 185 kids.
December 16 – Industry partners and staff gathered for this year’s Christmas get-together.
December 17 – Seminar for new CITE mentors held by the Personal Formation Office.
December 19 – Staff and families ended 2011 with a big bang during the Family Day.
