Some 150 first year students were treated to a rare musicale experience entitled "Ang Guro" on November 25 at SM Cinema.
The musicale depicts the story of Ms. Resontoc (played by TV actor, Karel Marquez) and how her passion for teaching has touched the lives of her students. In the vein of popular TV shows like Glee and High School Musical, "Ang Guro" featured performance-based renditions highlighting the powerhouse cast's singing and dancing prowess.
Although the play was meant to be light and fun, it aims to deliver a strong message across the young audience on how genuine education can be gleaned not just from the pages of the books but from real-life experiences. This critically acclaimed play will surely make you appreciate and value education and the teachers even more.
The play was co-produced by the Coalition for Better Education (CBE), a Cebu-based network composed of various education stakeholders from the academe, parents, NGO's, government and business organizations, media practitiioners, and professional and civic group. It recently partnered with Stairs Production to bring this musical play to play to honor the educators.
