CITE Attends Educhild Seminar
February 05, 2012

Sixteen CITE Faculty and Staff together with their spouses took up a course in Responsible Parenthood given by Educhild Foundation on January 28 held in TLC.

On the helm was Dr. Lime Reveldez. EDUCHILD stands for Education for the Upbringing of Children, a non-profit organization formed by parents to help fellow parents in the delicate task of rearing a family.

The 3-hour session was opened by CITE Academic Director Engr. Carlos Cornejo. The activity was composed of two parts—the Team Session in which the house was divided into two groups to study a case, and the Moderated Session where Dr. Reveldez acted as the facilitator.

As the team session started, each group was given an hour to discuss the case “Panagtapok sa Pamilya.” The case highlighted some traditions and practices of a model family like family dinner and get-together. Common family problems were also discussed in the session.

After the thorough discussion, the group was gathered for the moderated session. There, they consolidated their ideas and commented on the case study.

“The greatest challenge a father can face is that of raising his child properly…” Dr. Revaldez pointed out as he discussed how parents should solve problems --- facts, problems, solutions. At the end of the activity, the participants were given evaluation sheets for self-evaluation.

Another session of responsible parenthood is slated by Educhild Foundation on February 11 at CITE.
