With the advent of mobile journalism, a new breed of young writers has emerged to give a new meaning to online writing---blog, a portmanteau of web log, which has become a buzz word in the Internet. Blogging has become synonymous to writing for the dotcom generation—be it a chimera of thoughts, self-help tips, or just a footnote to the latest news.
CITE is not spared with this invasion of bloggers re-creating a “blogosphere” in this small school. From a relatively unknown student club last year, this group of 10-15 students is now a headliner in campus forums and cafeteria. Dubbed as the CITE Bloggers, the club maintains its own domain--www.cebudomain.com --which features timely articles ranging from student tips to local and international affairs keeping the readers in the know.
It also prides three-time CAMMA awardee Fr. Roy Cimagala, CITE Chaplain as its regular contributor.
The bloggers club is composed of Chris Wayne Comendador, Kevin Maglinte, Rodel Montebon, Joseph Vega, and some first year students who regularly posted articles on the mother blog.
The bloggers have undergone different seminars to keep themselves in the loop on the trends in blogging such as redirecting more visitors to the blogs and increasing their bounce rate thus keeping the visitors stay longer in the web.
With their adviser, Bjorn Bernales, at the helm who ushered them to the conferences outside CITE and retooled them through blogging seminars, the young bloggers will surely find their niche in the blogosphere.
